The following memoirs where first written around 1998, based on initial letters to my parents in Hayward, California. The time line begins on October 31st, 1969 and due to late arrival at Mc Chord AFB, WA. I was rescheduled to depart on November 1st, 1969.
Here are the experiences as FNG airman who arrives “In- Country” at Cam Ranh Bay airbase. The first paragraphs describe my first experiences during the first days in a combat zone as the Air Force would describe our tour of duty.

Mark, you did an outstanding job on this video. Every VN vet should watch this. I have watched it several times already and it brings tears to my eyes. If I had to do it over again, I would without even thinking about it. I was a Crew Chief on the C-130, my plane name was the “Devils Angel” and we were all over the place.
